When we are in Yellowstone, we will do all of our park touring in my tiny Jeep. By tiny, I mean that after we cram 4 fully grown people in, we will have approximately 2 square inches of space for snacks and drinks. Ok, so obviously that is exaggerated, but not by much!
One of the things I rely on when we are spending a lot of time in the car is trail mix. Unfortunately we each have different ideas of what that should contain. I like mine with a variety of unsalted nuts, coconut, and dried fruit. Everyone else likes a mix of nuts and M&Ms (really, they just like the M&Ms).
I decided to make my own basic mix, and when I eat it, I will toss in some banana chips and dried cherries.
- 16 ounces of dry roasted peanuts
- 8 ounces of raw, unsalted almonds
- 8 ounces of lightly salted cashews
- 12 ounce bag of M&Ms
- 12 ounce bag of Swedish fish (last minute impulse buy, because yum!)
I tossed everything into a gallon freezer bag, shook a few times to mix, and now I have something everyone on the trip will eat (or swipe the M&Ms).
